BOB Receives OP Grant to Grow Bitcoin DeFi on the Superchain

BOB is excited to announce that we’ve been awarded 750,000 OP as part of Optimism Grant Season 6. This grant will accelerate our efforts to grow Bitcoin DeFi on the Optimism Superchain.
Supporting the Superchain Vision
Since joining the Superchain in August 2024, BOB has become the third-largest chain by TVL (Defillama), following OP Mainnet and Base. This grant underscores our commitment to advancing the Superchain’s vision of interconnected, scalable ecosystems.
Allocating the Grant
The full 750K OP grant BOB received from Optimism will be used exclusively for user incentives, distributed through protocols building on our platform to support activities like liquidity provision, DEX trading, lending, BTC staking and other innovative Bitcoin DeFi products. All incentives will be given to users on OP mainnet, helping to bridge Bitcoin's ecosystem to the Superchain with 100% of the grant dedicated to rewarding the BOB community.
A Shared Mission
As the first Hybrid Layer-2, BOB seamlessly bridges Bitcoin’s liquidity with Ethereum’s flexibility. As the only Bitcoin-focused chain in the Superchain ecosystem, BOB aims to establish Optimism as the ultimate destination for Bitcoin DeFi, onboarding Bitcoin holders to Optimism while exposing EVM users to Bitcoin opportunities. This grant marks another step forward in integrating Bitcoin into the Superchain while fostering collaboration across the ecosystem.

BOB is an open-source project started in 2023 by Distributed Crafts - a UK research & development company founded in 2019. The BOB team counts 30+ team members, with backgrounds from Binance, Kraken, BCG, PWC and Amazon.
